Lesson 13: Keep off the Grass...NOT! |
||
Rules are made to be "broken"! You have been told to keep of the grass your whole life. You have been told you cannot succeed and that you won't succeed if you try something. Why? Because people don't want you to step on their grass! The problem is they don't want to step on the grass either (take a chance), but the sure as heck don't want to see you succeed.
However, we know you are better than this. We know you are a rebel deep down inside and you want to truly take control of your life and excel at this Internet thingy. Trying "new" things means doing what you like. The Internet allows you to act independently and differently than others and be rewarded for it. You don't have to do what others are doing. You don't have to find some secret "niche"... In fact, the way we created success online differed from one another. Our paths to success were not exactly the same, nor will your path be the same as ours. We will explain... Obviously we are closely connected (Kyle & Carson) as we are now in a business partnership, but our beginnings were different, they way we work is different, and the formula for success that we initially ran with is completely different. Sometimes people think about success the wrong way. They think that there is some specific formula for everyone to follow to success. The problem is, what works for one person will typically not work in the same way for another. There are several reasons for this... First one being, everybody's brains work differently. While Carson is much more ANALytical (we upper cased the first four letters on purpose), Kyle is less analytical...meaning he is willing to take higher risks, throw money and time into things that may or may not work. He thrives off of trying something out of the ordinary versus leveraging finite data to propel my campaigns. We also have different passions, different interests and enjoy doing different things. We guess the thing that we are really trying to get at is that you DO NOT have to be the best at everything to generate high success. The cool part is that if you do lack a skill (or lack a drive to have that skill), it can always be acquired...there are still some aspects of marketing that we could really work on, whereas there are some things in which we excel. This is FINE! You do not have to be great at everything to experience huge success! Another reason people's paths differ is their upbringing. People come from different situations, they have different financial goals, they have different incentives to succeed, and everyone has a different intrinsic value of being rich. Situations can influence success. It happens that we both started Internet Marketing when we were in school, but we both came from different upbringings. Both of us had been instilled with similar, but still slightly different values. We both had jobs that were unique to one another when growing up that showed us the value of work ethic...and influence the way we approach jobs and tasks. Influences from other resources have also had an impact on the way we achieved success. Books, magazines, television, family, friends, school...you name it. And what about the way we set goals. Sorry, but nobody has ever been successful without setting goals. Set high goals for yourself. Set goals that are seemingly unrealistic to others, but know in your own mind that anything is possible. You can achieve a lot more than you think!!! And last but not least there is the "P" word. Passion, that is! Look at Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Mark Cuban or any other billionaire. They started somewhere. All they had was a passion...and that passion took them where they wanted to go. Their passions were much different, yet they achieved their ultimate goals (success) simply by being passionate about something and enjoying what they do. We are both passionate about what we do. We love helping people and this passion has carried our businesses independently...and has also carried Wealthy Affiliate from ONE single member back in September of 2005, to the largest Internet marketing community online! So, always remember, that your path to success is going to be different than the next persons. You will not succeed in the exact same way or follow the same rules. Make your own rules and follow your goals to success! Step on the grass! Task for today: (1) Go step on your neighbors grass Check out the Final lesson! |
