Whoever thought "keywords" could make people so much money?

Say goodbye to the days of people searching through newspapers and books to find information and say hello to the days of people using Search Engines to find everything.

What do people use when searching to find information?

KEYWORDS!

Every purchase online typically starts with a keyword search in Google, Bing, Yahoo or another search engine.

Keywords are exciting.  Keywords are like those clues on a treasure map that you follow to find the pot of gold (the customers).  If you can understand how to choose keywords, you will understand how to make money online.

Before we show you how to find keywords, we would like to bring to your attention some (what we think) amazing keyword stats.

Amazing Keyword Stats..

Here are some Internet usage stats for you.

  • There are 1.4 BILLION Internet users in the world - that accounts for only 21-22% of the population (naturally, this number will increase).
  • Research shows that 84-85% of these Internet users will use a search engine to find the information, website's, or products they are looking for.  Many of these people will purchase something online!
  • The average Internet user spends 1 hour and 53 minutes per month on Google searching!
  • The average person visits 2,700 website's per month!
  • Google serves 250,000,000 searches every day!

This is a lot of activity and a lot of keyword searches.  This equates to a lot of people "buying" things online.  This also equates to a lot of earning potential for people just like YOU!

Wouldn't it be cool if you knew what Internet users were looking for online? And cooler yet, what exact words they were typing into Google to find it?

You can.

This is called keyword research.

There are many tools available that can show you words that users are searching for, how many times they are typed into Google each day, and other phrases like it that searchers are using.

So how do you figure out which keywords convert? Which sort of keywords are people putting into Google before they buy something?

The tool for Finding Hot Keyword

There are two main goals of keyword research.  The key is to find keywords that:

(1) Are relevant to products you are promoting (your niche)

(2) HUNGRY customers are searching

Let's look at examples of both GOOD and BAD keywords.  In this example, we are going to find keywords that are relevant to the "magic" industry...something most people wouldn't think of off the top of their head.

At Wealthy Affiliate, we provide members with a keyword tool.  For this example, we are going to show you how to find "hot" keywords in just a few short minutes of keyword research.

What does someone search when they are looking to magic? Let's start with the obvious...

"magic"

Here are the results:

Be more specific.

What about "magic gathering"?

OK, cool, we have some more relevant keywords now in just a couple of seconds within the WA keyword tool.  But, which keywords are good for article marketing and which would be good for getting ranked in Google?

The answer is in the tool....and something we call article power.

This is a column within each keyword search that works of a calculation that determines which keywords are optimal for getting ranked (that is, making money with) in Google.  If it is a 7 or higher, we recommend using it.  7 or lower, you need to be more advanced to try it or have a really good grasp of things...

You can sort this column, so what we have done is sorted it by highest to lowest to get the best "article" keywords.

Here is what the results looked like:

Lots of great keywords.  This took two seconds to do within a niche that we had no knowledge of.  Before this search, we didn't even know that "magic the gathering" even existed.  That is the power of keyword research and with a little work, you can have 100's of HOT keywords

Now we are talking.  See the difference between the initial broad search and how we moved to becoming more and more relevant.  People that search for "magic the gathering price guide" are much more qualified visitors than someone searching for magic.  This relevance will lead to better rankings in Google and better earnings.

That leads us into...

The typical searcher online will use 3-4 words to search for the information they need

Internet users are getting smarter as the Internet matures. They know that if they want to find a magic gathering price guide that they will not get the search results they want by simply typing "magic" into Google... or even by typing "magic gathering" into Google.

They will likely type "magic gathering price guide" into their search - likely even more descriptive "find magic gathering price guide online".

These types of keywords are excellent for article marketers!

Keyword Research Goals:

  • Find the words people are using in Google to find information about your topic - these are your keywords.
  • Find the keywords that are the most relevant to your promotion and attract hungry buyers.  These are search terms that will be found through keyword research.
  • Give the searcher what they are looking for.  This is done through the page that you send your keyword traffic to.  If you are targeting the keyword "children's weight loss program" you better make sure that your web page discusses the same topic.

If you think there is a lot of keyword competition out there, think of this.  Google gets 250 MILLION searches every day.  Of these searches, many of the keywords have never been searched before and a good deal of the keywords have NO competition at all.

Remember, the average search is 3-4 keywords.  This means that consumers are making smarter search choices when looking to buy something online.  This is perfect for marketers as we can target exact keywords.  The more targeted the search, the more targeted we can be with our promotions.

The more targeted we are, the greater the conversions!
